What role will your church play in keeping students plugged in during the summer? Does your church have a plan for connecting with college students during the summer?
It's not too late to put together a simple, effective plan that will help you connect with college students in your church and community. Some key tips from Mark Whitt, collegiate and young adult specialist at LifeWay Christian Resources and former campus missionary at Murray State University:
- Be intentional. Students love getting together, so plan regular outings, fellowships and trip. They can be as simple as a pool party or as elaborate as a camping trip.
- Choose a good Bible study. Look for something short-term and relevant. The Threads resource library has great suggestions. Be flexible about the when and where; Sunday mornings at church might not be the best time for students home for the summer.
- Serve your community. Students have much to give, and most are just waiting to be asked to serve.
